Appointments

Get help for any health problem

You can request an appointment by using our Get help for any health problem forms. Your request will be assessed and assigned to the best person to help you with your concern.

It would help us if you could select the type of health problem you are having. We can then ask specific questions about that condition.

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:

  • blood tests: if you are due for a blood test, or we have asked you to have a blood test, please book this using your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) or SystmOnline
  • blood pressure checks: use the monitor in our waiting room at Bowthorpe Health Centre. If you book a blood test at Trinity Street Surgery, your blood pressure can be checked during this appointment and there is no need to book a separate appointment. You can also use Home Blood Pressure Monitoring
  • other appointments: for ECGs, vaccinations, asthma reviews, COPD reviews, diabetes reviews, wound dressings, cervical screening or other nurse appointments, phone us on Bowthorpe Health Centre 01603 748 043 or Trinity Street Surgery 01603 748 043 between 10am and 5:50pm on working days or use our nurse or healthcare assistant appointment request form and we will respond within 4 working hours

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Patient appointment invitations

If the practice is aware that you need an appointment, we may send you an appointment invitation by text message or email. This appointment allows you to book into an appointment of your choice.

Click the link at the bottom of the text message or email. You will then be asked to confirm your date of birth:

Click in the date of birth box and you will be shown a calendar. You can pick your date of birth on the calendar, or type it in the format: dd/mm/yyyy

If you type your date of birth, you will need to press return or enter on your computer keyboard, or done or go on your smartphone, to reveal the submit button.

Press submit.

You should now be shown a choice of appointments.

If you do not see any appointments, or only a small choice of appointments, this is because the system only shows a two-week range at a time. At the top of the page, click the box next to ‘Period’:

You will be shown different two-week ranges. Choose another range of dates, then click show.

Enhanced access

Between 6pm and 8:25am, Monday to Friday, all day at weekends and on bank holidays your call will be redirected to the NHS 111 service.

Electronic Prescription Service

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is a NHS service that allows us to send your prescription(s) directly to your chosen pharmacy. This paper-free prescription service means that you do not have to come into the surgery to collect your prescription.

We encourage all patients to register for this free service.

To register, please use SystmOnline.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
